Samuel J. Burruano, Sr.
     Born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 29, 1921.  Son of Pietro and Carmela (Lombardo) Burruano.  Married Clare K. Eckert on November 23, 1946 who predeceased him August 20, 1989.
    Mr. Burruano enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in the Pacific as a naval officer in World War II.  He received an electrical engineering degree from Villanova in 1943.  He was a founder of the IEEE Engineering Society from which he received a Hall of Fame Award in 2007.   Mr. Burruano had a career as an expert in radio frequency interference and electro-magnetic interference analysis and control, grounding, and nuclear hardening, providing military and civilian agencies with practical and theoretical consultation.  He was proud to have worked on projects involving Air Force One, national defense, space missions, health diagnostics, computer technology and national security. 
      He moved to Harrington Park, NJ in 1958.  He loved his Roman Catholic faith and lived it to the full.  He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Victories parish, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, and taught Confirmation CCD.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a warm, loving person.  He is survived by his children Ann Palladino and her husband Raymond, Anthony Burruano, Samuel Burruano Jr. and his wife Bettiann, Bernard Burruano, Dr. Michael Burruano and his wife Jeannene, Maria Hellrigel and her husband Michael, Eleanor Burruano,  five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. 
   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victories in Harrington Park, NJ on Monday, July 27, 10am with interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Norristown, PA on Tuesday, July 28.  Visitation at Moritz Funeral Home in Closter on Sunday, July 26, 2-5 and 7-9pm.
