Norwood, NJ - Closter Location

James J. Roberts, 84, resident of Norwood, NJ for 60 years, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2015.  Born in Sturgeon Bay, WI.  Beloved father of the late John Roberts and beloved husband of the late Ann Miele-Roberts and dear brother of the late Emmit Roberts.  He is survived by his sister Rita Roberts-Frisque of Sturgeon Bay, WI. His loving son Scott Roberts, daughter-in-law Irene and grandson Andrew of Norwood. Loving daughter Theresa Robers-Farro and his two grandsons Troy and Derek Farro of Park Ridge.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews, godchildren, family and many friends.  An incredible man and father who truly will be missed.

He served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1956 on the USS Lindenwald as First Class Quartermaster, receiving a European Medal, Korean 1st Engagement Star, Navy Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a medal of Good Conduct.  Jim was a member of the American Legion, Norwood Special Police Dept. from 1958 to1959 and the Norwood Ambulance Corp.  A 57 year member of the Norwood Volunteer Fire Dept., Jim received Fireman of the Year in 1980 and served as Fire Chief from 1977 to 1978.
 He was owner and operator of Northern Valley Disposal of Old Tappan, NJ and later became foreman at Miele Sanitation in Closter, NJ.

Memorial service Tuesday, July 28th, 6-9pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Closter, NJ.  In lieu of flowers family request that donations be sent to a charity of your choice in memory of “Jim Roberts”
